Sirfetch’d: Meet The Newest Addition To Pokémon Sword

Nintendo has disclosed a brand new version exclusive evolution of the classic Farfetch’d, now in Sword’s Galar region, he can evolve into Sirfetch’d.

A New Twist On An Old Favorite!

You’d think Ash Ketchum finally winning the Pokémon League would be the best Pokémon news of the week, but you’d be wrong. Not content to leave us celebrating the end of Ash’s 20-year dry spell, Nintendo has released another new trailer showing us the latest addition to the Pokédex. That addition is a certain leek-wielding duck.

Sirfetch’d is the evolution of the generation one Pokémon Farfetch’d and as you can probably already tell from the name, its design is Galar region appropriate. Not content with any old vegetable, this Duck has its own specially prepared saber to take into battle, as well a similarly glorious garnish shield to defend itself with.

In keeping with the theme of Galar variants of existing Pokémon having their types changed up, Sirfetch’d is a fighting type Pokémon, rather than being a normal type like its predecessor, Farfetch’d. Sirfetch’d also has the ability Steadfast, which increases its speed if it gets flinched by an opposing Pokemon’s move.

However, if you want to lay your hands on this handsome fellow, you’ll either need to own Pokemon Sword or have a friend who’s happy to part with their prized duckling.

The new evolution has already taken Twitter by storm, with many old school fans happy to see Farfetch’d finally getting its own evolution, and the size of its leek hasn’t gone unnoticed either, with Photoshops aplenty popping up.

Personally, I’m holding out hope that we’ll see an evolutionary glow-up for my personal favorite Pokémon, Dunsparce!

Are you excited about this new evolution? Let me know on Twitter @Wolfencreek and tell me what Pokémon from previous generations you’d like to see get some love.
