Pokémon Sword And Shield Now Has Its Own Economy

It seems not every feature was touched on in the recent Pokémon Sword and Shield trailer. They completely left out Poké Jobs! That’s right, Poké Jobs. Now, both trainers and their Pokémon can freelance across the Galar region.

So far, news reports that Poké Jobs consist of part-time work at both corporations and universities. Examples include construction work, cooking, and farming. Trainers can look for Poké Jobs through the Rotomi at Pokémon Centers.

“The Pokémon you send will help out with the job, and the experience will even help them grow,” states the official Pokémon website. “There are many different Poké Jobs available. You’ll find that certain Pokémon types are suited for specific jobs, too. Helping out for a long time or sending as many Pokémon as you can on a job can also net some good results. You might even receive some rare items!”

The implications of the Poké Job feature

The Poké Job feature may very well be linked to the overall plot. For instance, Poké Job listing advertised is titled “To protect our investments.” Let’s be real – that sounds super sketchy. Our bet is that it refers to either an authentic security job or some black market work for the Galar mafia. We’re more confident it’s the latter.

This new feature is even reflected Sword and Shield’s newest additions to the Pokémon universe. Pokémon such as Corviknight, a raven that literally acts as an air taxi, was among those recently announced. Maybe the other new additions, such as Bite Pokémon Drednaw, will make contributions of their own to the private sector.

In addition to Poké Jobs, Sword and Shield will also debut Dynamaxing and Gigantimaxing, or what appears to be the Gen VIII equivalent of Mega Evolution.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are slated for official release on November 15th for Nintendo Switch. Additionally, November 8th will see the release of the limited edition Switch Lite hardware, featuring the new legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta.
